Mezzala is a football tactics simulator
Build a squad, express a real tactical system, and find out in minutes whether it works. Football Manager makes you play two seasons to learn whether your 3-2-5 works; Mezzala makes you find out in eight minutes.
What is Mezzala?
Mezzala is a football tactics simulator that runs in your browser. You pick a squad, set a formation, roles, duties and in- and out-of-possession instructions, then play the system against an AI manager or another manager to see whether it works.
How realistic is the match engine?
The engine is calibrated on 1,941 real matches from the public Wyscout dataset (Pappalardo et al., Scientific Data 2019: the big-five leagues 2017/18, the 2018 World Cup and Euro 2016). It is deterministic: the same tactic and seed always replay the same match.
Do I need an account to play?
No. Sign in as a guest and Versus and Analysis run entirely in your browser. Signing in with Google keeps your tactics, replays and match history across devices.
Which formations and opponents are there?
Ten formations, from 4-4-2 and 4-3-3 to 3-5-2 and 5-3-2, and eight AI manager identities: Gegenpress, Tiki-Taka, Low-Block Counter, Catenaccio, Route One, Wing Overload, Total Football and Park The Bus.
Can I test one tactic over many matches?
Yes. The Analysis workspace runs many simulations of a tactic, or compares two, so one lucky scoreline doesn't decide the verdict.
What is League mode?
League mode lets you follow clubs in the Premier League and La Liga and lock a team sheet for their upcoming real fixtures.
How is Mezzala different from Football Manager?
Mezzala asks one question, does this tactic work, and answers it in minutes instead of seasons. It is a tactics simulator, not a full management game.
